Personal Style Story: Lynne...in her own words

I am excited to start a new segment on the blog featuring...my clients!  This is where you'll hear about the personal styling experience from their perspective.  To get started, allow me to introduce you to Lynne!  Lynne is the Director of Consulting Operations for The Table Group, a management consulting firm in the Bay Area.  She is also mother of two beautiful, teenage girls and needed her clothes to work for her in all facets of life.  Lynne enlisted my help through my Sort, Shop & Style package.  Here is her experience...

1.  What led you to ask Alison for help?

I’m a working mom of two teenage daughters.  I was in a slump – always just wanting to be comfortable but admiring friends that had their own style.  I knew Alison could help me find a comfortable style that would really represent me and my life stage.

2.  What was the experience like for you?

AMAZING!  Alison had the perfect balance of frankness, kindness, humor and expertise.  She spent time asking me about my ideas and needs and using that information to help me make appropriate decisions about the clothes I already had and the style I wanted to achieve.

3.  What did you love about the process?  Was there anything that surprised you?

My favorite part was cleaning out my closet and getting rid of things I had held on to because I felt bad getting rid of them.  This is where Alison’s sense of humor and sense of style as well as her confidence in my new style came through.  The biggest surprise was walking in to the dressing room at one of my favorite stores and seeing a variety of clothes and shoes already set up for me to try on.  I almost cried I was so happy!

4.  What changed for you as a result of working together?

I now feel like when I get dressed, I have my own style that reflects who I am as a person.  I like dressing in a classic way and Alison helped me choose pieces that are both classic and modern.   And, she continues to help my style update and evolve for the different events (parties, vacations, etc) in my life.

5.  What was your biggest takeaway from the experience?

Defining and implementing my style has helped me feel more confident and, well, stylish.  I no longer dread getting dressed for work or a special event.  I have a closet full of clothes and shoes (some that I already had, but didn’t know how to wear and some that are new) that make me feel good!
